Who We Are

Whether you're just asking questions about God or searching for a church home, we're excited you're here. You can expect to be home at Christian Life Assembly. The people will love you just as you are.

It is our goal and prayer to give you the best possible experience. Welcome Home!

Our Mission

Christian Life Assembly exists to effectively proclaim the full gospel of Jesus Christ so that we may see people who have no relationship with Christ come to Christ and discover the joy of knowing Him.

Our Vision

To be a unified, biblical, and multicultural community that authentically lives out faith so the world can see God's redemptive work through us.

Statement of Faith

Our Beliefs

In the essentials we find unity, in the non-essentials we express liberty, and in all things we express love.

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is God's holy and inspired word. It is our guidebook for life as we seek to follow His plan for this world and His creation. We believe that the Bible tells the story of God in and through the people of Israel and has found its fulfillment in and through Jesus of Nazareth.

God

We believe that God exists in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, yet is one in nature and never in conflict. He is infinite and beyond our understanding. He is Creator, redeemer, eternal, ever present and all powerful. In and through Him, we and his creation are made whole.

Jesus

We believe that Jesus of Nazareth was virgin born, He led a sinless life, was crucified, buried and resurrected from the dead. He, completing the story of the people of Israel as Messiah, is now seated at the right hand of the Father interceding on our behalf as our redeemer, Lord, and King.

Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is our helper, given to every believer who asks so that we have guidance, comfort, conviction of our sin, and adoption as children of God. He is our inheritance so that we live an empowered, fruit-bearing life.

Salvation

Being created as Image bearers, we are to live in community as the people of God. This is established in and through the work of Jesus of Nazareth, in whom the fullness of Israel is seen and the saving power of God was manifest.

The Church

The church is the community of the people of God. It is the body of Jesus over which He is head and is His representative in the world. The church is not a building or a temple, but a people, filled with the Spirit of God and fulfilling the continuing mission of its king, Jesus.

Our Mission

The Church seeks to create a community which glorifies God, lifts up the name of Jesus, makes disciples and makes the name of Jesus known among the nations, gathering around Holy Communion and Baptism, identifying with the redeeming work of Jesus.

Our Future

The Holy Scriptures declare that at the end of all things Jesus will reign as King and Lord not only in Heaven but here on Earth. Those found to be in Jesus will be saved to life everlasting as partakers of the Kingdom to come in the New Heavens and New Earth.

Our Core Values

We are grounded in God's Word, devoted to authentic worship, intentional family discipleship, compassionate outreach, prayerful dependence, faithful stewardship, selfless service, and a unified, multicultural community that reflects God's love to the world.

Biblical Teaching — We live out God's truth. We believe in God's timeless and absolute truth for our everyday lives. We believe in the infallible Word of God and believe it is our authoritative guide for faith and for living.

Authentic Worship — We respond passionately. We live each moment with the awareness that we are in God's presence. Our life can be fully devoted to Jesus by loving, talking, singing, listening, reading scripture, journaling, and obeying His voice constantly.

Strengthening the Family — We start at home. We desire for our church to be intentional and focused on providing effective and relevant ministry to children, youth and the entire family.

Every Soul Matters to God — We embrace everyone. We show God's love and concern to everyone at every opportunity. The highest honor is becoming friends with someone far from God and helping them become a life-long follower of Jesus Christ who helps someone else do the same.

Fervent Prayer — We seek Him first. We believe in the power of prayer. Prayer is our lifeline to God and everything should be bathed in prayer before implementation.

Strategic Prosperity — We are faithful stewards. We desire to be faithful to the facilities and resources that God has entrusted into our care and to be debt-free from the lender so that we can strategically prosper in reaching others for Jesus Christ.

Compassionate Servitude — We put others first. We desire to serve God by serving and putting others first with God's love.

Multicultural Community — We are a unified family. We desire our church to look more like Heaven and celebrate cultural diversity. We desire to become a biblical community so that the world can see God's love through us.

Our Story

Christian Life Assembly has a rich and influential history of God's people loving, caring and reaching the Willimantic/Windham region for Jesus Christ.

The church was founded by Pastor Harold D. Hanson on February 14, 1952, with founding members Andy and Lou Sabo, holding their first worship service at 133 Union Street, Willimantic, CT. Their welcome card proclaimed: "A Hearty Welcome to ALL and A Place Where The Old Fashioned Gospel is Preached."

In 1953, the church purchased the Cardinal Funeral Home and relocated to 88 Windham Rd, changing its name to Willimantic Assembly of God Church in 1954. On August 29, 1959, they dedicated a newly constructed church at 143 Windham Rd — the same location where the church meets today.

Under Pastor Kenneth Newhook's leadership, construction began on a new sanctuary in 1987. Windham Christian Academy was established in 1989, serving grades 1-8 through 2009.

Pastor Dwayne Harper began his tenure on February 9, 1992, initiating a period of exponential growth through community outreach, arts, and missions over his 18-year pastorate.

Over seven decades and many faithful pastors later, Christian Life Assembly continues to be a beacon of hope in the community under the leadership of Pastor Guy Miller, who began serving in September 2024.
